Okay, confession! I’m not actually a vegan, but rather a practicing vegetarian. I guess I hold my wardrobe to stricter standards than my diet. I’m a pretty passionate chick, and this site was born as an attempt to merge two of my favorite subjects - fashion and an oddly maternal concern for animal welfare. Hopefully, this initiative will not only keep my OCD energy in check , but also change the world – or at least the way they shop.
As a college grad, I’ve been schooled in fashion, editing, event planning, online media, advertising, was introduced to the eco-revolution during my days in the industry, and am now racking up some salon expertise from the best in the biz. I’ve both worked at and have been privy to attending multiple NY Fashion Weeks, appeared as a guest writer on TopButton.com, and was even the editor of their now-retired green style section. Being the multi-tasking maniac I am, throughout all this, I’ve also volunteered at PAWS Animal Shelter, cultivating my life-long compassion for all creatures. What I’m getting at is this: When it’s so easy to go faux and achieve that fanciful fur or leather-like appearance you’re seeking, AND still remain animal-friendly and cruelty-free – why not? You could be saving a life! In support of this, my style aptly combines my mission to save the fluffies while maintaining a certain level of “super casual meets modern with a splash of goth” status (as much as one can on a budget). Being conscious about a cause doesn’t mean it’s all hippie and granola from here on out. Although, I quite enjoy both those things. Consider VaVaVaVEGAN your personal resource for keeping the VaVaVaVOOM! in vegan fashion.
